Setting it up

  1. Settings → Connectors → Create (developer mode may need enabling first)
  2. Paste the URL below and choose OAuth authentication
  3. Approve the permissions

Deep Research mode will not see this server: it requires a specific search/fetch tool pair that this server does not implement.

How it signs you in

OAuth. Adding the URL opens a browser page where you approve the connection, and the client stores the result. There is no token to copy, and nothing to paste twice. A token never travels in a URL, and every credential is stored as a hash.

Checking it worked

Ask for this in the client. It reads nothing and changes nothing.

Say this to your client 
Call the sowhatify tool whoami and tell me what it says.

It comes back with the account the connection is attached to and which scopes it holds. An anonymous connection answers too, and says that it is anonymous.

If it does not work

The client lists no tools

The URL must end in a slash. A request to /mcp is answered with a redirect that some clients turn into the wrong kind of request; /mcp/ avoids it.

Sign-in opens and nothing happens

The approval page has to be opened in the same browser you are signed into. Approving in a different browser cannot reach the client that asked.

Tools appear but every call is refused

The connection has a scope it needs missing. Reconnect and approve all three, or check the connection on your account page.

Deep research or agent modes see nothing

Some modes only accept a specific search-and-fetch tool pair that this server does not implement. Use the normal conversation.

Questions

Does my article text pass through SoWhatify?

No. The tools return a run brief — the questions and your profile — and your AI client is the model that answers it. The page text goes from your client to its own model provider, never through this server.

Do I need an API key?

Not for this. Your AI client already has a model; SoWhatify supplies the template and the profile. A provider key is only needed for the browser extension and for Dropboxes.

Can I publish a template from here?

No, and that is permanent. Creating and editing work over MCP and always produce a private record. Publishing is a public act and happens on the website.
